Cool,congrates! thought it was, first time i've been to Margam on a Saturday and forgot about the Porthcawl cruise, NO ONE THERE!!! 2hr wait in the rain for everyone to come back! LOL
I live in Whitchurch area. Bug needs framehead, pans and channels are the main things. Hopefully be getting a garage for bug soon (as soon as i clear it out that is!!) , just saving $$$'s for the mig welder, but might have a mate with a spare one1.

Never got into the bmx thing just used to skateboard n mtb alot. Shit forgot about Blackwier, it's been a while. Been trying to get back into the mtb thing again (slowly) just haven't had time.
The bug was from Bristol, got it back last year. MOT ran out a few months back, started to strip the interior out, but haven't got a garage at the mo. I've got a business and have been offered the garage down the side, just gotta clear it out a bit, which hopefully i'll do this weekend, so i can work on the bug without cluttering up my flat and p***ing off the missus!!

What exactly needs replacing? both floorpan halfs? both channels and the framehead? good luck! If you need any advice, there's a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the club

GOOD LUCK! Yer gonna need it!!! Framehead rusted away but as soon as fixed gonna get that red9design coil over setup!! gotta swap to disc brake setup anyway, drop spindles, etc. Just want to make all the underpinnings totally solid and safe cause i wanna fit something with a bit more umph out back at a later date.

Hey guys finally got the bug in a garage at last! Hopefully i can get my arse into gear now and could do with some tips and advice on what needs doing for the resto.

Oh yer sorry i wasn't at the November meeting, distinct lack of car as the girlfriend went to Cornwall in it.

what sort of resto u going for dude?

body off ?

if the floors and frame head need doing thats the easiest way

ud need to weld in brace bars from a - b pillars and b - b pillars to keep the body shape

then its a case of un doing all the bolts that hold the body on suprisingly theres not that many

2 under the bonnet - about 8 on the underside - 4 under the back seat and 1 on either rear wing

the body should lift up once all the bolts are out providing noone previously has welded the body to the chassis


it should take 2 people to lift the body - u need to remove petrol tank and engine wiring first mind you


if you have a look around volkszone theres loads of people have done exactly the same thing and its a great way to get access to everything

a good coat of Por15 once the chassis is built up will preserve it for years to come

then the rebuild starts

which is the fun/stressful bit
