Club website, and webspace hosting renewal

Yo all,

It that time of year again that we need to pay our webspace hosting fees.

The forum get pretty well used, but we dont really use the website. Theres been no new news for months, and the next club meet date is still on May! Shall we bother renewing it?

If we want to renew the subscription, I'm happy for us to keep it going, but havent personally got time to do the site, so if any body want to talk over the site let me know.

Agreed - the website gets very little use, and we could do without it. And the forum is useful, and used, if only occasionally

Is there any way of keeping the www.cardiff-aircooled.co.uk name/address and it taking you straight to the forum, as the forum's free, am i right? Or are we hosting the forum as well as the main site?

Hmm. We can keep the name, but it think the way you set the forum up it always goes to the https://cardiff-aircooled.forumotion.com as this is the people who run the forums web adress. We could just have this, and we not need to host the rest of the site, but it would sort of be quite difficult for people to find?

The website is good in someways, as it a front to the club, and tells new people where the club is etc, but it just need someone to run it and keep it updated. A task weve both failed at!!

I think there's no point re-newing the website if not used, the forum can host all the info/pics anyway. How much are the fees for the website anyway?

£25 per year.

The good bit about having the website is that the web address www.cardiff-aircooled.co.uk is easy to find and comes up on google seaches (i.e. for new members). The forum web address https://cardiff-aircooled.forumotion.com/ is not so easy to find, especially for those new to Cardiff Aircooled.

I can see argument for both keeping and letting the web site go.

I think we definately need to keep the website.

Even if it's re-designed so that it doesn't have to be updated unless something major happens to the club (for example i actually manage to turn up in an aircooled vw )

Yeah for £25 we may as well keep it (I'm sure peeps would be happy to chip in, I know I wouldn't mind)

Can't believe we're going to be away when the meet is on, AGAIN - Arghhh! We're off to Devon for a few days (job interview and reccy as we might be moving down there) - we would of been able to bring our "never seen before" beetle too! - maybe next month then.

I would have been interested in helping to keep the website updated but as we're thinking of moving soon there'd be no point, I guess. Surely someone could give Dude a hand, there's loads of stuff we could do with it.
