| right little bit of an update on the car since the margam show and getting it on the road i have almost covered 600 miles and it is still running great i have fixed a lot of problems during this time that have arisen and taken this time to use as a test session to work out which way i want to go with the car for the future the car is now back off the road and ready for the next phase ready for next years show season as the weather is pretty crap at this time its gives me something to do the engine and gear box are coming out this week so the rear suspension and gearbox can be attended to the rear suspension will have coilover shocks an new bushings etc its also going to come up a notch as its sitting too low to get any comfort out of it theres about 3mm of play before the stop on the rear suspension ill be adding a camber compensator to improve the handling the whole rear end will then be painted and detailed the gear box will be detailed also and new urethrane mounts fitted to make the rear end tighter once this is completed the engine can go back in and retest the car for a few days before getting some points of the body attended to - the rear vents need straightening and the front valance needs re aligning these body changes will be made and a full respray in satin black will follow the cage will be gloss to contrast the paint all of this will be completed by christmas during the christmas break and into the new year the engine will be rebuilt using 1641b&p engle 110 cam 1.25 ratio rockers twin carbs and ported heads this should give me a nicer sounding engine and a few more ponies out the back i aim to have the car how i want it by dubfreeze at the start of the year and aim to show the car at the volksworld show in march i have a few other touches that i will keep to myself until then but for now ill document everything using photos and keep you up to date | |

almost off the road for the big winter rebuild now
will be selling the engine exhaust and a few other bits and pieces
then going 091 box in the rear i think with an rjes bell housing complete with subaru engine banged onto it
then just need to paint the body properly and add some day mouldings rear wings
all of this is going to start after its taken a trip up to fills to get straightened
anyone fancy IRSing my rear end with me? | |

| right big update with pics to follow if i can get them off my phone - i cant find my camera yesterday was a busy day down the garage and a lot of stress at the same time i took off the rear panel and rear wings aswell as the decklid took the engine out and took the gearbox out painted up the area around the gearbox in black and detailed the gearbox cradle in silver the new gearbox mounts are obsolutly solid there bright yellow so will stand out quite a bit tomorrows task is to refit the gearbox with the new mounts and get the engine re mounted - the engine trouble i had was because the carbs were not seating properly to the head so i had an air leak so that will be fixed after the weekend got to order a stack of bits from gsf and replace both the rear drums and brake shoes / cylinders before it comes back on the road before i started exhaust off rear body work removed just to show how much of the rear end ive cut away engine out these are all the photos i have as my phone broke not long after this | |

| Jamie Ray yeah weena bought the '64 as it was when Jamie had it (fuchs, green with cream side etc) but the body was too rotten to salvage, so weena kept the chassis and bought a rust free oval shell for it! | |

| yeah from what i know about the 64 jamie built it and won a shit load of shows in it then sold it - it bounced around a few owners and had new engines and what not i bought it from a friend - after a year of daily driving it needed a full restoration - when i stripped it for painting i found a lot more rust that expected - alot of bodged repairs and the thing that stopped me was taking out the rear window complete with the metal that surrounded it i managed to pick up a rust free - media blasted and primed oval shell for 400 quid which needed very little work so opted for that shame i didnt get another 64 shell but the ones that were around at the time were in more orless the same shape and the oval body was such a bargain i had to have it | |
